Our hands are not only for feeling by touching, but also for expressing ourinnermostfeelings and thoughts through motions and gestures, and representthings that we simply cannot express in words. Our gestures also have a mother tongue. In this paper I have gathered data from biblical descriptions pertaining to this special language. I discuss the symbolic meaning of touching, the imposition of hands and the gesture of prayer in the antiquity, as well as left-handedness and the symbolic meaning of using the right hand and the left hand.
