Tartalmi kivonat:The religious life of the Greek-Catholic people in Hajdúdorog proved to be unbroken, independent of any political system. The population's strong belief is present in their weekdays and also in their holidays. Hajdúdorog is an episcopal see with Greek-Catholic educational institutions: nursery school, primary school and secondary school. At the beginning of the 21th century, devotional pictures can be found at every Greek-Catholic families in Dorog. Devotional pictures are small, duplicated pictures representing saints, religious symbols and biblical scenes. They are made of different materials and often have a small size. They carry and transmit religious ideas, prevent troubles and curing power is attributed to them. What does the respect of the picture mean in Hajdúdorog? Believers respect and kiss them and read the stories and prayers on them with tears on their eyes. This respect is not for the őoctire itself but for the person who is represented and for the text on it. Formally, they can be inserted to the prayer-book. Among the devotional pictures kept in their prayer-book, we can see pictures about Mary, Jesus, saints and guardian angels, icons and places of pilgrimage. People obtain these images by buying them, by donation and as educational materials for pedagogical incitement. The study examine a woman's collection of 68 devotional pictures and their usage.
