Tartalmi kivonat:Lajos Kálmány, a parish priest and folklorist, talked first about the popular prayers in the Szeged-region at the end of the 19th century. In the middle of the 20th century Sándor Bálint, professor of ethnography and folkloristics urged the collection of the popular prayers, which mainly spread by oral tradition from generation to generation. Zsuzsanna Erdélyi discribed them as a special genre of the folk poetry for the Hungarian folkloristics. The author himself collected such prayers, incantations in sixty settlements around the town Szeged and describes those variations in his paper which refer the Holy Trinity. Comparing them with exampels from other Hungarian regions, he states that people use texts mentioning the Holy Trinity mainly in crisis situations. They ask protection in necessities, illnisses, defence from the Devil. Symbols expressing the Holy Trinity such as triangle (God eye) are rather common in folk architecture and art in Szeged region.
