My essential point of view was to outline the nature of prophesying - known from the traditional peasant culture -today, after the fundamental technological- economical-social changes. By this theme I would like to give some information to the problem: how far do the radical changes in the fields of material culture, economical and social conditions determine the acculturation of folklore and the village social mind. In my study I want to interpret the dead-seer in Lőrinci by comparative analysis as a folklore symptom of today. I am describing the biography of the dead-seer Mrs Csiki with a special regard to her miraculous gift. I am going to speak about the special role she has taken upon. The dead-seers got in touch with the essential problems of human life and they as psychologists gave mental help the people who visited them. People also need these services nowadays and the Lőrinci dead-seer's centre of gravitation is fairly wide. Visitors come from far away parts of the country and from abroad as well. Her gravitation is large not only in geographice but in social respect: she is visited by higher and lower social classes. In my study I am describing the way of her prophesying by cards and the technique and circumstances of raising spirit. I will publish some parts of the conversations between the deadseer and her visitors. Their behavior has got a traditional technique: the dead's relative has to invite the dead person to the dead-seer's house, the deads' spirits can be raised on well-defined days and the conjuration can take place at least half a year after the death. The relativies' interest and the information are also determined by traditions. Mrs Csiki is often called on to find lost persons and this task tails also within the traditional dead-seer's province. I am going to deal with her antagonistic relationship with the Church and the religiousness. I will speak about her idea of the other world, this is rather archaic. Interpreting her activity I have to take into consideration her urban, occultist relationships and I will refer to the necromancers working in Mátraderecske even nowdays where the traditional peasant reguirements are combined with urban influences. In the summary I will enumerate the traditional and modem elements of the dead-seer's activity. On the basis of all these we can say that Mrs Csiki's way of looking are rooted mainly in archaic tradition and her working means the survival of the reguirements known from the peasant culture.
