Then their legal successors, the descendants of some Hungarian noble families returned in 1714 and settled in Buda castle. Their cloister and church had been built by 1748. In the richly decorated rococo church the contemplative Clares were surrounded by characteristic objects. One of them was a particular delineation of different themes which was made by Anna Erzsébet Falkoner, Sister Zsófia (1714-1790), the artistically talented daughter of a local painter, from a Scottish origin family. The altarpiece can be seen in the parish church of Piliscsaba as the Clares was dispersed in 1782. Its subject illumines the theological significance of appeasement as an ascetic practice in an impressive artistic style projecting a vision for the mediative believers, among whom there were the members of the Confraternity of the Saviour's Heart founded in Buda castle in the nunnery. In the centre of the composition there is the figure of bleeding Christ on the Mount of Olives with the consoling angel, next to him Virgin Mary kneeling. At the top of the picture the Sacred Heart ofJesus is praised by angels asthe centre of appeasement. At the bottom the suffering souls of purgatory can be seen. The author tried to interpret the subject on the basis of contemporary religiousliterature illustrated by iconographic analogies represented by example pictures of the paper.
