It describes the movements in the Italian literature before St. Francis and the development of the Franciscan spirituality. It speaks about the revolutionary innovation in the religious life and the sacred literature connected to it, the view focused to mankind of folk religion, the free movements of indivudual religious experiances and the free expression forms of them. The figur of St. Francis hardly occurs in the sacred tradition. It can be found in some so called officium songs of official church song books. His influence can be shown the more in verbal forms of ardent religiosity effected by him, especially in the Passion epic and Lamenations of Mary and in the so called archaic folk prayers which keep these genres alive into our days. All these can be seen not only in the Hungarian tradition but in archaic prayers dealing with the death of Christ and M arian songs, European-wide. | |
