Tartalmi kivonat:Anonymus of Carthaus, author of the Érdy Codex written in 1526 revealed in his own texts the social questions of Hungary in the era and points out the connections between the Hungarian and European historical events. The Two Books written by Gáspár Károlyi published in 1563 contains a similar message. Both authors are worried about seeing the Hungarians in economic destruction and the Hungarian independence in extreme danger. Taking the prophecies of the Old and New Testament as their starting point they see the signs of the Last Judgement - together with the signs of the coming Antichrist - to be realized in the events of their time. They both point out the fortune-seeking attitude of the secular and ecclesiastic ruling circles, the declining prestige of the mother-church and the economic destruction and moral degeneration of the common people. They also mention the Turkish expansion which threatens the existence of the Christian states on a European scale. Besides exploring facts, both authors emphasize the tasks with the help of which the present situation could be solved.
