Tartalmi kivonat:The presences of forests and trees and their extensions in medieval Homokhátság (Sand-ridge Area in the Danube-Tisza Interfluve) are investigated in this study. The aim is also to determine the species of trees if it is possible. Although, there is not mutual understanding in connection with the sizes of woodland in this area, but it is concluded on the basis of the disregarded literatures, that this area was not totally treeless in the Middle Age, on the other hand there was not a large and contiguous woodland. The area of Homokhátság can be divided into two parts in aspects of woodlands. The first data from the North part which is in the east region of the contemporary Örkény can be found from the 14й1 century. There are documents about unknown extensions of woodlands in the region of Albertirsa and Lajosmizse from the 15th century and in the region of Dabas, Kakucs, Puszta and Vacs from the 16й1 century. However oak forests lied east of these villages in the region of Cegléd, Nagykőrös and Kecskemét in the 13-16th centuries. There is only one document from the late Middle Age about the region of Szentkirály where was oak forest, too, which possibly is east part of the forest of the three settlements. On the other hand there are fewer data from the bigger south region of Homokhátság than from the north. Also there are only four documents about forests from the 15th century about the region of Kecel, Bugac, Kiskunmajsa and Csólyos but the species of forests cannot be determined. However, the presences of juniper trees are supported with more data which are before the 18th century.
