The general opinion of the senior staff of the faculty is that this situation is primarily an opportunity for the university and for the faculty, too. The strategy can give a new momentum to further developments in both education and scientific research. This opportunity will stabilize and even enhance the strengths, significantly reducing the weaknesses and the long-term risks of the operations. In my paper I investigated what laws and regulations framed the evolution of the egineering education. In order to successfully implement the national education strategy in Szeged, this evolution should be taken into consideration in the development of the education and the training portfolio. The most important question is what success factors affect the long-term outcome of the strategy of the university and the faculty.
