Beside this, I am going to extensively explain the process of grammaticalization by applying spatial-metaphorical studies and syntactic properties of verbs well-known from cognitive linguistics. The corpus of this examination includes verbs with the preverb el (about 1100 pieces) in the book A magyar nyelv értelmező szótára. In the beginning of the study, I drew up three main hypotheses. On the one hand, I assumed that there is a connection between spatial relations and the process of grammaticalization in the case of the preverb el as well. On the other hand, I examined Soltész Katalin’s point of view which says that perfection comes from the issue of the invisibility. The basis of the third hypothesis includes Szili Katalin’s work of the preverb ki ‘out’ which suppose that perfect verbs have bounded arguments. On the basis of this work I drew up my third argument which says that if the perfective preverb el has bounded complements, invisible verbs and perfect forms have bounded arguments as well. On the basis of what has been said so far, the study unambiguously supported the connection between spatial relations and perfection in the case of the preverb el ‘away’. The grammaticalization can be noticeable in the catenation between the connections of change of spatial and condition. However, it is important to note that the process of the evolvement of perfection can be perceivable in the group of verbs expressing spatial change as well. My second hypothesis also proved to be true while the third one need to be modified. Although words which expressing the change of conditions are totally considered to be perfective, they are not strictly regarded as bound complement structures.
