The relevant research has sought an answer, in one respect, to the question whether commercial schools could achieve the goal set by themselves to turn out merchants well-trained in international commerce; in another respect, to the question what consequences the “aggressive” Magyarisation attempts of the Hungarian government had for the operation of such schools, where the majority of the students were native speakers of Italian (70.59%), Croatian (17.65%), or German (5.88%). Last but not least, the research focused on what job opportunities in the Monarchy and other countries were given by the qualifications students could earn through finishing a secondary commercial school. | |
