520 3 |a After the Venetian-Hungarian war (1356-1358), as a consequence of peace of Zadar the region from the bay of Kvarner to Durres ran into the Hungarian Kingdom. So in the following years Louise I, King of Hungary was able to use the advantages (commercial, political) of Dalmatian cities and islands. The king organized his navy, the title of royal admiral („admiratus maritimus regit') appeared on 10th of February in 1358 in a document. The admiral was the comes" of the islands of Brae, Hyar, Korcula and Vis. Furthermore he looked after the nautical supply and service of Dalmatian cities and islands, organized the ship's repair and participated in diplomatical actions. The admiral was the captain of the navy, but in rating he stood under the Croatian-Dalmatian ban. Between 1358-1363 the royal admiral was Jacobus Subichus de Cesame from Zadar, from 1363 to 1372 Baldassar de Sorba from Genova performed this office, between 1372-1383 Simon d'Auria from Genova was at the head of navy. The larger part of royal navy consisted of the Dalmatian ships, but the Hungarian King had own ships too (3—4). The sources of the period distinguished the royal and the Dalmatian ships. They mentioned the galeas, ships of the king like the admiral's, while in the case of Dalmatian galeas, ships named the owner of the galea or ship. The navy of King Louise I of Hungary consisted of different types of ships, the sources used in this work mentioned just galea, brigantino, barcha, navigium, parascelmus. In this work the documents from 1381 present some detail's the operating and life of the navy of King Louise I of Hungary in the last year of war of Chioggia. The navy in 1382 helped for Charles of Durazzo against Louise of Anjou to the Kingdom of Naples. The documents are found in: Smiciklas, T. (1972-1976): Codex diplomaticus Regni Croatiae, Dalmatiae et Slavoniae, Zagreb. ΧΙII-XVI. volume.
